This is a local statement from civil society actors in Kirumba from the territory of Lubero expressing their serious concerns about the manipulation of certain actors (ACTOLE) pushing for oil exploration by SOCO in Virunga National Park. They are against the fact that the voices of communities are being taken hostage without any prior informed consultation with them on the risk and effects of oil exploration. Communities have a right for FPIC. They encourage the protection of the environment and the sustainable management of ViNP and Lake Edward.
