MATEBI, EASTERN DR CONGO, 18 NOVEMBER 2015: Congolese men lay electricity pylons for the power that will be supplied by Matebi Hydro-electric station. The powerstation is an initiative of Virunga National Park and when it comes online in early 2016, it will supply over 13 Kilowatts of power to the region. The nearest city is Goma, which uses a quarter of the power that will be created by Matebi. The electricity generated will be used to change the face on industry in the region as well as the daily lives of the population. The new opportunities this will provide for employment is also expected to be a game-changer for peace in this extremely impoverished region.
