On the occasion of the sixth edition of the AMANI festival, the federation of the individual fishermen committees of Lake Edward – FECOPEILE in acronym-, launched a petition against the exploitation of oil and other threats in Lake Edward and Virunga National Park (ViNP) but also against insecurity and kidnappings in the areas surrounding the park.

NO to oil exploitation and other threats in Lake Edward and the rest of Virunga National Park to contribute to the fight against global warming

NO to kidnapping and insecurity in the cities, towns and villages along the Virunga landscape

YES to the promotion of responsible fishing, non – polluting renewable energy, ecotourism for sustainable development to contribute to peace and stability in Eastern DRC.

According to the committee of FECOPEILE, the petition against oil exploitation is part of the framework to contribute to the fight against global warming.

This organization wants to promote responsible fishing, clean renewable energy and ecotourism for sustainable development in order to contribute to the peace and stability of eastern DRC.

For Josué MUKURA Secretary General of FECOPEILE oil exploitation in Lake Edward is a great threat to biodiversity “exceptional” Virunga National Park.

This petition will be filed with the competent authorities so that this question can be settled as quickly as possible.

Nord-Kivu : Les pécheurs lancent une pétition contre l’exploitation du pétrole au lac Edouard

A l’occasion de la sixième édition du festival AMANI, la fédération des comités des pécheurs individuels du lac Edouard FECOPEILE en sigle, a lancé une pétition contre l’exploitation du pétrole et autres menaces dans le lac Edouard ainsi que le reste du parc national de Virunga (PNVI) mais aussi contre l’insécurité et le kidnapping dans les zones riveraines du PNVI.

NON à l’exploitation du pétrole et autres menaces dans le lac Edouard et le reste du parc national des Virunga pour contribuer à la lute contre le réchauffement climatique

NON au Kidnapping et à l’insécurité dans le pnvi et dans les cites, villes et les villages riverains dans le paysage Virunga

OUI à la promotion d’ une pêche responsable, l’ énergie renouvelable non-polluante, l’ écotourisme pour une développement durable afin de contribuer à la paix et à la stabilité à l’ Est de la RDC

Selon le comité de la FECOPEILE, la pétition contre l’exploitation du pétrole s’inscrit dans le cadre de contribuer à la lutte contre le réchauffement climatique.

Cette organisation veut la promotion d’une pêche responsable, d’une énergie renouvelable non polluante et d’un écotourisme pour un développement durable afin de contribuer à la paix et à la stabilité de l’Est de la RDC.

Pour Josué MUKURA secrétaire général de la FECOPEILE l’exploitation du pétrole au Lac Edouard constitue une grande menace contre la biodiversité « exceptionnelle » du parc national de Virunga.

Cette pétition sera déposée auprès des autorités compétentes afin que cette question soit réglée au plus vite.
